Rebecca Davies is a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours) student at the ANU Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics.
“I never want to leave Mount Stromlo! It’s really serene and quiet, so you get a lot of work done.
"From my first day on the mountain I was made to feel like I belong. The astronomers (both students and academics) are wonderfully friendly, supportive and knowledgeable. I feel like a valued member of the galaxy research group, helping to unravel how galaxies have evolved.

I'm not sure if I can pick just one highlight ! I have really appreciated being a member of a large team, the SAMI galaxy survey team, and receiving financial and other support from CAASTRO.
The PhD is a great opportunity, you learn problem solving, presenting and how to form collaborations among many other skills.
The highest point of my research was traveling to the Cerra Tololo Inter-American Observatory near La Serena in Chile. Nothing beats being at the telescope and observing your data, seeing the raw results straight from source.
