UNC PROMPT (Panchromatic Robotic Optical Monitoring and Polarimetry Telescopes), from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is made up of a number of observatories around the world. Here at SSO, UNC have installed four 17 inch Planewave telescopes. Their primary role is to observe the after glow of Gamma Ray Bursts (GRBs), however, they are also used for education and amateur astronomy.

The telescopes are controlled via Skynet, a scheduling system that automatically assigns jobs to appropriate telescopes around the world depending on the time of day, weather conditions, the position of the target and the priority of the observation.

For more information visit the Skynet website.
