
Supernovae Near and Far, celebrating the achievements of Brian Schmidt and the 40th anniversary of SN1987A
The 23rd of February 2027 marks the 40th anniversary of the arrival of Supernovae 1987A. That same week coincides with the 60th birthday of Brian Schmidt who shared the Nobel Prize for observations which led to the discovery of the accelerating universe.

The Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics at Mount Stromlo invites members of the global supernova and cosmology research communities to celebrate the achievements of Brian Schmidt, and to discuss supernovae and their use as cosmological probes.
The 5-day conference will be held in Canberra, Australia, the week of 22 - 26 February 2027.
Topics will include:
Supernovae as distance indicators, supernovae at early and late phases and SN 1987A.
