Space research & development

Our expertise in collecting and analysing data from space can help to solve complex problems on the ground. We use real spectrographs rather than using cameras with coloured filters, we employ the latest visible light and infrared detectors with versatile readout strategies to enable hyper-spectral imaging for remote chemical tagging. Emerging noise-free infrared technology offers exciting new opportunities in this field. This technology and our expertise in data processing have myriad applications in defence, agriculture, mining and ecology. Using satellite-mounted spectrographs, we can turn our attention back to Earth to analyse our oceans, waterways, crops, vegetation, soil and minerals, or urban infrastructure. For example, we have worked with the CSIRO to study agricultural run-offs affecting coral reefs.
