How to get here

The Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre (AITC) is located at Mount Stromlo Observatory, about 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Canberra, Australia’s capital.

From Sydney

By car

The journey to Canberra (280km) takes 3.5 to 4 hours via the Hume Highway.

By air

A 50-minute return flight Sydney/Canberra costs approximately AUD300 if purchased in Australia, but may be cheaper if booked as part of an international travel package. You can book a rental car for collection at Canberra airport, or take a taxi from the airport to Mount Stromlo. The drive takes about 30 minutes.

By bus or train

There are regular bus and train services between central Sydney and Canberra. These services take about 4 hours and cost approximately AUD50 (return). Visit Transport NSW for information about train services and Murrays or Greyhound for bus services.
