We have outstanding technical capabilities in optics, mechanical and software controls, and data collection and analysis. Through international collaborations, we have acquired decades of experience in designing, building and using astronomical instruments. For example, with organisations from the USA, Brazil, Korea and Chile, we are part of the consortium constructing the $1billion Giant Magellan Telescope (GMT).

Leading experts, specialist environments, precision manufacturing and rigorous testing make the AITC ideal for production of spacecraft and instruments. Our capabilities encompass satellites, unmanned aerial vehicles, high-altitude balloons and platform stations, and experiments for the international space station.

We are the only Australian experts in adaptive optics (AO). We specialise in AO for advanced astronomical instruments, tracking of satellites and space debris, and high-performance laser communications.

With leading expertise and facilities for precision manufacturing and rigorous testing, we specialise in high-performance laser communications for challenging environments.

The AITC is the only facility in Australia that enables end-to-end engineering from initial design to the launch pad.
