Mt Stromlo Observatory Public Astronomy Nights

Mount Stromlo Observatory in conjunction with the Canberra Astronomical Society invite the Canberra community to attend our public observing nights of 2015. Come and see the rings of Saturn, the craters of the moon as well as beautiful star clusters and nebulae. On the night attendees will be taken on a ‘tour of the universe’ with talks by astronomers from Mt. Stromlo Observatory, including A/Prof. Charley Lineweaver, and observations on several telescopes.

A/Prof. Charley Lineweaver can be frequently seen on ABC news, ABC's Catalyst and Channel 7's Sunrise as the resident astronomy guru. He is a world expert in cosmology, planets, and aliens.  However, as an advocate of popular science education, he loves to talk about anything space related, so come along to try to stump him with your hardest astronomy question.

This event is free and open to the public. Warm clothing is recommended.

In the event of cloudy weather, star gazing will be cancelled (the talks will occur regardless of the weather). You can check out the weather at Mt Stromlo using our all sky camera.

2015 Dates:  24 April, 22 May, 19 June, 24 July, 21 August (World Record Stargazing Event), and 25 September.
